Academic Hall of Fame Nominees

Waterford Union High School Seeks Academic Hall of Fame Nominees

Leadership. Excellence. Service. Do you know a leader, a veteran, a musician or actor, an educator, who has achieved distinction in his or her field or made distinguished contributions to the community? The committee is seeking the community’s input in collecting nominations for the next Hall of Fame class, which will induct up to three additional members this year.

The purpose of the Waterford Hall of Fame is to recognize those individuals who have brought distinction, honor, and excellence to Waterford Union High School through their unselfish efforts to make the world a better place through their professional, entertainment, military, community service, and business contributions.  Any alumnus, long-serving faculty member, or community supporter may be nominated to the Hall of Fame.

In May 2019, Waterford Union High School inducted Tony Clements, Stephen Doorn, and Barbara Lawton (nee Smith) into the Hall of Fame. They joined the inaugural class of Lloyd Frye, Jim Graff, Scott Gunderson, Jim Guth, and Harold Ranke. Through their internationally-recognized scientific research, theatrical and musical talents, political contributions, and extensive community involvement, these individuals never sought accolades for themselves but were shaped by their education and community to inspire those around them to make the world a better place.

Nominations will be accepted until February 28 at the Waterford Union High School website under the District tab.  See the following link for more information: https://tinyurl.com/y96quv7k

Notice of Referendum

On Monday, December 16, 2019, the School Board of the Waterford Union High School District has passed a resolution to provide for a referendum election that the final school district budget shall include an amount not to exceed $95,000 in excess of the revenue limits imposed by Section 121.91 of the Wisconsin Statutes each year beginning with the 2020-21 school year on a recurring basis for the purpose of paying the costs of the salary, benefits and operational expenses associated with a school resource officer.

The referendum ballot will ask District electors: “Shall the School Board of the Waterford Union High School District be authorized to exceed the revenue limit under Section 121.91 of the Wisconsin Statutes by an amount of $95,000 each year beginning with the 2020-21 school year on a recurring basis for the purpose of paying the costs of the salary, benefits and operational expenses associated with a school resource officer as provided in the foregoing resolution?”

A “yes” vote is in favor of the resolution set forth above and is a vote to approve exceeding the revenue limit under Section 121.91 of the Wisconsin Statutes each year by an amount of $95,000 beginning with the 2020-21 school year on a recurring basis for the purpose of paying the costs of the salary, benefits and operational expenses associated with a school resource officer.

A “no” vote is opposed to the resolution and is a vote to deny exceeding the revenue limit under Section 121.91 of the Wisconsin Statutes each year by an amount of $95,000 beginning with the 2020-21 school year on a recurring basis for the purpose of paying the costs of the salary, benefits and operational expenses associated with a school resource officer.
